A Romanesque Treasure in the Heart of the Valley: The Church of Sant Feliu de Vilac
The Church of Sant Feliu de Vilac is an architectural gem that tells a centuries-old story carved in stone. This remarkable building, shaped by different construction phases, has preserved much of its original structure—especially the central body where the three naves unfold in their serene, Romanesque beauty.
Its basilica layout, with three naves divided by sturdy arches, transports visitors back to the 12th century, capturing the spirit and artistry of the High Middle Ages. Though the apse has undergone significant modifications over time, the church remains a harmonious blend of early Romanesque purity and later Gothic additions—most notably, the solid bell tower rising over the central nave like a stone sentinel.
One of its most striking features is the entrance door: a mix of structural simplicity and rustic charm, adorned with a touch of restrained ornamentation that reveals a timeless elegance.
Due to its resemblance to the nearby churches of Taüll, it is believed that the construction of Sant Feliu de Vilac began in the late first quarter of the 12th century. Today, its excellent state of preservation allows us to experience it much as it was seen by its earliest congregants.
And now, you can bring a piece of this historic wonder into your own home. Discover the detailed model kit of the Church of Sant Feliu de Vilac—a faithful reproduction designed for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and model builders alike.
